Supporters who gathered at Peabody Heights Brewery earlier this month for a screening of the documentary “The Beat Goes On: The Story of Baltimore Beat” were the first to try The Beat Goes On: Issue 002. The fruited sour is the second collaboration between community news outlet Baltimore Beat and the brewery. It features notes of strawberry kiwi and is 4% ABV.

“We want to support the Baltimore Beat’s journalistic integrity, which provides a more community-based and thoughtful view of news and culture in Baltimore City rather than the biased journalism that often reaches the forefront,” said Brewery owner Eddie O’Keefe.

“Now is the time to be creative and collaborative,” said Baltimore Beat CEO and Publisher Lisa Snowden. “It’s so important that money isn’t a barrier when it comes to getting news and information about your community. Things like this beer help us continue to provide free news.”

Makers of The Beat Goes On: Issue 002 said their aim was to create something refreshing and fruity for summer.

The first edition of the beer, released last year, featured notes of black cherry and basil. It brought in more than $2,200 for Baltimore Beat.

The Beat Goes On: Issue 002 is on sale now, and $1 from every taproom pour and $1 from the sale of every six-pack helps keep journalism free for everyone.
