BALTIMORE, Md., Aug. 24, 2026. CLLCTIVLY awarded Baltimore Beat a $25,000 grant through its Kindred Abundance Ecosystem Grant program, announced during CLLCTIVGive 2026, the annual giving day that mobilizes support for community-rooted organizations across Greater Baltimore. The grant is general operating support. Baltimore Beat will direct the funds to its most pressing needs rather than a single project.

General operating grants let nonprofit newsrooms cover the full cost of the work: reporting, editing, distribution, and the systems running behind the scenes. Baltimore Beat is an independent nonprofit newsroom publishing free journalism for Baltimore residents. Unrestricted funding supports both daily coverage and the long-term investments that keep the newsroom stable.

CLLCTIVLY launched the Kindred Abundance Fund with a $1.28 million investment in capital, capacity, and shared infrastructure for organizations across Greater Baltimore. The fund grew out of CLLCTIVGive, an annual giving day that raised more than $1.36 million for 136 organizations across the region in August 2026.

“Grants like this fund the work behind the work. Reporters and editors get the headlines, but a newsroom also needs strong systems behind the scenes to keep publishing week after week. This grant lets us invest in the foundation behind our reporting,” said Lisa Snowden, publisher and CEO of Baltimore Beat.
