This year’s Summer Jam event honors members of the Baltimore community for their work preserving Black media with an awards gala and dinner!

Baltimore Beat’s Summer Jam event now includes the inaugural Legacy Gala, an awards ceremony honoring W. Paul Coates, Dr. Leslie King-Hammond, and Afro Charities for their work in preserving Black media. Your ticket to this event supports Baltimore Beat’s mission to honor the tradition of the Black press and the spirit of alt-weekly journalism with reporting that focuses on community, questions power structures, and prioritizes thoughtful engagement with our readers, and includes:

A 2-course plated dinner and assorted desserts catered by H3irloom Chefs David and Tonya Thomas.

Signature summer cocktails.

A spot at the Summer Jam afterparty immediately following the awards ceremony from 9pm-12am, outside on the Baltimore Museum of Industry’s terrace overlooking Baltimore’s beautiful waterfront.

A separate Summer Jam afterparty ticket is available for folks who are unable to attend the gala.
